Medical Collaboration Presentation

On March 23, 2018 SCA presented our new board of directors and a presentation on how we collaborate with other non profit organizations. Our goal is to focus on our own specialties and maximize our outreach to our intended audience.  Each program is unique in its own design and we hope to continue our collaboration.

New Board of Director

  • President: Mrs. Yen Pham
  • Vice President: Dr. Nhat Anh Ho
  • Treasurer: Mrs. Kim Anh Nguyen

Programs in which SCA Collaborated for FY 2017-2018

  • ICI International Communities Initiatives
    • Collectively worked in cohesion to fundraise to restore Kinh 7 Charity Clinic’s 23 year old volunteer based kitchen. To date, ICI  has successfully restored the kitchen, dining hall, and volunteer dormitory.
  • QTTUSA Quy Tinh Thuong USA
    • QTTUSA organize cataract surgeries for indigent patients in Vietnam throughout the year in addition to other support on an individual basis. SCA had an opportunity to participate in the June 2018 cataract surgeries.  We donated $2,000 that went towards ~ 60 surgical cases to help bring light to the “mirror of the soul”.
  • MOM-VN Mercer On Mission – Vietnam
    • MOM-VN is a unique educational opportunity for students from Mercer Unv School of Engineering & Temple Unv School of Pharmacy to travel to Vietnam twice a year to experience health disparity. The team fits prosthetics on amputees & set up orthopedic clinic. To date Dr. Ha Vo, creator of the universal lightweight prothetic, reports that they have fitted ___ prothetic and examined ___ orthopedic patients since June 2009.
    • SCA donated 200 travel vouchers for amputees to attend the prothetic clinic in Dec 2017 and June 2018 (total 400 vouchers @ $10/voucher).
    • The need for prosthetic arms has been in the works for some time now. Dr. Vo’s team launched the prosthetic arm pilot in Dec 2017. For June 2018’s mission trip, the team aspired to mold & create 60 prosthetic arms  and SCA was able to donate 20 prosthetic arms towards that goal. (~$150/prosthetic arm)
  • VMCO Vietnamese Medical Charity Organization
    • Indigent patients with no home and living in temporarily rafts on the border between Cambodia & Vietnam. They have no nationality or assistance from either sovereign entities.  The health disparity here is completely at lacking and next to nonexistent. VMCO donated approximately 500 portions of oral medications (multiple vitamins, analgesics, topical creams and first aid items) while SCA has been working with Father Truong, Suoi Day Catholic Church, to bring fresh filtered water and distributed food vouchers to thousands of families.  Please visit SCA’s fresh water project for more info.
